Speaker Biography

Hou Jianming holds a PhD in Demography. He is Vice Dean, Professor, and Doctoral Supervisor at the College of Northeast Asian Studies, Jilin University, and Deputy Director of the China Research Center for Population Aging and Economic and Social Development at Jilin University. He also serves as Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Population Association and Secretary-General of the Jilin Provincial Population Association.

His main research interests include population and social development, as well as health among older adults. He has led and participated in many research projects, including sub-projects of key National Social Science Fund projects, National Social Science Fund projects, and Humanities and Social Sciences Research Projects of the Ministry of Education. As principal investigator, he has completed five provincial and ministerial-level research projects, as well as more than 10 commissioned projects for government departments, enterprises and public institutions. He has submitted more than 10 policy advisory reports to relevant departments and published over 20 academic papers in leading journals in China and abroad.
